Cording hires UK residential fund management head
Cording Real Estate Group, a member of the Edmond de Rothschild Real Estate investment management platform, has appointed James Whidborne as head of UK residential fund management.
James will have oversight of Cording’s two existing private rental sector (PRS) funds, Cording UK Residential Investment Fund and PRS Club 1, while also helping to grow new residential investment products.
The team is currently developing build-to-rent schemes in Nottingham, Warrington and Leicester.
James joins from Savills Investment Management, where he was a director in the fund management team with responsibility for two development-led residential funds and a strategic land fund, having previously worked on a pan-European opportunities fund, a student hall fund and several commercial mandates.
Before working in fund management James worked at Savills in its affordable housing consultancy team. He gained a master’s degree in real estate and investment finance from Reading University in 2007.
Theo Soeters, head of fund management at Cording, said: “James brings deep experience of both fund management and the residential sector. His appointment is an exciting step forward for us as we build a presence in an increasingly important asset class which has widening global appeal to institutional investors”.
